Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the AristAI Accessibility Suite — the web app, the browser extension, the Microsoft Office add-in, the LMS integrations, and the API and CLI. Using any of them means you accept these terms.

What the service does

The Suite checks digital content for accessibility problems and, where you ask it to, rewrites that content so the problems are fixed: tagging and rebuilding PDFs, running OCR over scans, generating captions and transcripts for video, checking web pages against WCAG, remediating Microsoft Office files, and scanning courses in a connected LMS. Each job produces a record of what was checked and what changed.

Accessibility results are not a legal guarantee

This is the most important thing on this page. The Suite is a tool that materially improves accessibility and documents the work. It is not a legal opinion, a certification, or a warranty that any file, page, or course complies with the ADA, Section 508, WCAG 2.1/2.2, EN 301 549, or any other standard, in any jurisdiction.

Automated checking catches what automated checking can catch. Some requirements — whether alternative text is meaningful, whether reading order matches intent, whether a video description conveys what matters — need human judgement. Keep a human in the loop and, for legal questions, ask your own counsel.

Your account

  • You are responsible for what happens under your credentials, and for keeping them secret.
  • You must have the right to upload the content you send us, and the right to have it processed.
  • If your institution administers your account, your administrator can manage quota, roles, and access, and can see the usage records for jobs run under the institution’s license.
  • Do not use the Suite to break the law, to process content you have no rights to, to probe or attack the service, or to resell access without a written agreement.

Your content stays yours

You keep every right you already had in the files you upload and in the remediated files we return. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service: to store, process, transform, and return your content, and to keep the job records that prove the work was done.

We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to train general-purpose models. Where a job is carried out with the help of a third-party processor (for example a speech or language model provider), that processor may handle the content only to perform that job.

Quota, licenses, and payment

Free trials and sample remediations are offered at our discretion and are limited by page count, file length, or job count. Paid use runs on quota or on an institutional license. Payment is handled by our payment processor; we do not store your card details. Unless your written agreement says otherwise, fees already paid are not refundable, and quota does not carry value outside the service.

Availability and changes

We work to keep the service running and to warn you before we make a breaking change to the API or CLI, but the service is provided as-is. We may add, change, or retire features. Scheduled maintenance and unscheduled interruptions both happen.

Liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, AristAI is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or claims arising from a determination that your content does or does not comply with an accessibility standard. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using the service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that puts the service or other customers at risk, or that has unpaid fees. When an account closes, we delete or return your content as described in the Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change we update this page and the date at the top. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will tell account holders before it takes effect.
